Our Ministry

Our Mission

To disciple women toward a deep relationship with God and a knowledge that He is the upholder of their life (Psalm 54:4).

Our Focus

LUTHERWOMAN is a team ministry of women who want to pour into other women. The scripture we have chosen to be the foundation of our ministry is:

The Lord is the upholder of my life.

As Christian and Lutheran women, God calls us all to discipleship. To be disciples and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20).

LUTHERWOMAN recognizes 4 stages in the discipleship journey that most LCMS women will fall under and where we will focus our ministries and creatively find new ways to serve:

  • Women mature in their faith who need inspiration to make intentional relationships in their churches and disciple other women.
  • Faithful but very busy women who need support and mentors to help build their faith.
  • Women who are marginal in their faith and church attendance, who need connection.
  • Women who have left the church but have a Lutheran heritage that we can use to connect them back to their faith.

Ultimately, our goal is for all of these women to know God as number one in their life. We want them to know that He is their comfort. That He is the one they run to. To know that in suffering, heartbreak, pain, trials and chaos, that God is there and cares deeply. That they go to Him first. That they believe that He is there for them, loves them, and even when He doesn’t answer their prayers the way they desire, that He is still everything they need.

That they Believe that Jesus is trustworthy when He says that he will give rest for their souls. Mt 11:28-30

That they Believe that God supplies all of their needs. Phil 4:19

That they Believe that He will reveal himself to them when they seek Him. Mt 7:7

That they Believe that He will never leave them. Deut 31:8

That they Believe that He will give peace. John 16:33 Philippians 4:6-9

That they Believe that God has a plan for them. Jeremiah 29:11

That they Believe that He gives strength to the weary. Isaiah 40:29

That they Believe that When they walk through difficult times, deep waters, He is there. Isaiah 43:2

That they Believe that God hears their prayers and answers. Mark 11:24 Psalm 34:17

Our fervent prayer is that they will believe what the Bible says, that God is who He says He is.

Our Means to Accomplish This

Our ministry team consists of women in the LCMS who desire to disciple other women. There are many gifts that God has given us for this task, and our these women are gifted teachers, leaders, writers, planners, artists, speakers, and women who simply want to serve and find creative ways to reach and disciple others.

LUTHERWOMAN Website

Our team of writers provides content for our LUTHERWOMAN website.

Personal Blogs

Some of our team members want to write and share more. We build websites for our team members who desire that. We want to have more LCMS women bloggers to help reach women with the gospel.

Other Means

We use both digital platforms to reach the masses of LCMS women, as well as we provide new ideas and resources to develop community and relationships inside the church. One-on-one discipling, in-person, is our goal, and we hope to provide more help and ideas for the army of women serving in churches around the world.

Our Leadership

Jill Levenhagen, Founder & Editor

Jill has many years of experience in digital communications, content marketing and web development. Her main desire is to use those skills for the cause of Christ. And so was born LUTHERWOMAN.

Jill is a Pastor’s wife. She is the mother of 2 teenagers. She enjoys creative projects, solving problems, organization, cooking, and photography. She currently lives in St. Charles, Illinois, but also calls “home” Indianapolis, Indiana, and Bethel, Missouri.

Abby Reynolds

Abby is currently a Deaconess student at Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis. Abby is married to Aaron and they have one son. They live in St. Louis with their pet hedgehog, Ruby, and adopted puppy, Jax.

Abby loves to drink coffee, read, talk about theology, spend time in nature, make music, and have sweet conversations with friends.

Denae Stevens

Denae Stevens is a homemaker and lives in England with her husband and six children. She is still trying to figure out the roles that God is calling her to outside of motherhood. In addition to her love for reading and writing, she is also passionate about art and paints in her free time.

She loves people, and can be known to overshare in the hope that others will be vulnerable and do the same.
