Jennifer Taylor Schmidt

I am a former Lutheran School teacher. I left the classroom when my son was born. In my adult life, I’ve managed an independent coffee shop, shown real estate for a master-planned community, and even spent a term working for a representative at the Texas State Capital. While I’ve had many unique experiences, I claim teaching and writing as my forever loves.

My husband is a Lutheran pastor who is currently serving his third congregation. Life in ministry can be such a blessing, but it can also be very hard. We’ve experienced our own trials over the years. On my website, Real Food Real Healing, I try to share some of that truth.

Real Food Real Healing began in 2018 as a way for me to write about my personal experience with mold toxicity. The church parsonage that we lived in for five years left me very, very ill. I’ve continued to write at the the website as a way to encourage others and educate others. I’ve detailed my healing journey. I share resources and recipes. I try to write for the body, mind, and soul. I’ve learned that healing is not just physical. It requires a more varied approach.

I am in my sixth year of homeschooling. I have just one son, who is very gifted. I enjoy the time we spend learning together. I also work as a private teacher/tutor for other families. Since healing from mold toxicity (and the debilitating brain fog), I am able to write again. I write articles for my website and others. I also write middle grade fiction. My most recent complete work is a book for Christian adults on the topic of identity.

I am grateful to be part of LUTHERWOMAN. I enjoy writing about the Christian faith.
